Teen Feed is community driven… in our new van!

On July 24th, Teen Feed’s community-driven friends and staff gathered to celebrate the arrival of our first vehicle a light blue Toyota Sienna minivan!

The new van, which was proudly on display on University Way, features the Teen Feed logo and the names of the generous donors who made the vehicle possible. Over sparkling beverages and delicious Eltana bagels at the Teen Feed office, donors, board members, friends, and special guests from Auburn Youth Resources (AYR) mixed, mingled, and toasted to what this new vehicle means for youth in need.

“Teen Feed’s van is a symbol of our effort to meet youth where they are at and represents our exciting new partnership with Auburn Youth Resources,” announced Teen Feed’s Executive Director Megan Gibbard. In 2011, Teen Feed launched a five year Strategic Plan, outlining an effort to bring the Teen Feed meal to more youth in need throughout King County. Recognizing the growing population of homeless youth in the South King County area, Teen Feed and Auburn Youth Resources worked together to create Teen Feed Auburn, providing local youth with warm, nutritious meals and the supportive connections they need to thrive. Teen Feed’s new vehicle plays an integral role in program expansion by transporting staff and supplies to Teen Feed Auburn and additional Teen Feed sites in the future.

Teen Feed’s Board of Directors Chair, Alisa Betz, and Auburn Youth Resources Executive Director, James Blanchard, cut a ceremonial ribbon as guests cheered, marking the official launch of Teen Feed’s first vehicle. Teen Feed also presented James Blanchard with a plaque recognizing the community-based partnership between Teen Feed and Auburn Youth Resources. With heartfelt thanks, Jim accepted the award, sharing AYR’s excitement to be collaborating with Teen Feed to help meet the growing need for youth in South King County.
