The Teen Feed Dinner Program Manager (DPM) will join our management team as part-time staff member who is an energetic, passionate leader with a small nonprofit organization focused on serving homeless and food insecure youth ages 13-25 in the University District of Seattle. The Dinner Program Manager models consistency, tenacity, compassion, and kindness. They are well organized, have a passion for racial equity and systemic change and embrace gender diversity. They champion a strong social justice roadmap, practice personal boundaries and have a compassionate nature. The best candidate is supportive of operations at the Teen Feed nightly Dinner Program; a mission-driven, trustworthy individual who provides oversight for approximately ten part-time Engagement Coordinators, as well as on-site (volunteer) Advocates, Allies (under 18), and interns/practicum students. 

They are a key member of the management team and ensure the positive engagement, agency, equality, consistency and safety of our nightly meal guests as they seek respite from the streets. Successful candidates will be a superstar at balancing administrative and on-site work, and recognize the strong work ethic required for the social justice field and want to be a voice of change on a constructive, no-drama team. 

A strong preference is given to racially diverse candidates who reflect the demographic of our youth. This position is 99% in-person, with ability to work periodic evenings, weekends, and holidays also in-person required. The Dinner Program Manager reports to the Teen Feed Executive Director (ED), is part-time at 20 hours per week, non-exempt. Annual salary is $31,200 or $30 per hour. Benefits include an IRA account with a 2% annual contribution from Teen Feed, and standard PTO + sick time accrual.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required – experience considered equally
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license – required to fulfill job duties 
  • Ability to obtain Washington State Food Worker card – required
  • Ability to pass Washington State Background Check – required
  • Ability to lift/carry 40+ pounds regularly
  • Ability to sit/stand as needed, ability to stand/walk for 4+ hours frequently
  • Stairs required, carrying 40+ lbs up/down stairs somewhat frequently
  • Ability to work periodic evenings, weekends, and holidays in-person
  • Demonstrates cultural competence in social service systems and behavioral issues pertinent to the housing-insecure youth community or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to perform all services in a culturally respectful manner, honoring homeless individuals in agreement with Teen Feed Core Values
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills needed, organizational, writing, and language skills helpful in position success
  • Proficient in Google Suite + MS Office Suite

Pay is $30/hour.

**Hiring for our REGULAR Part-Time Youth Dinner Engagement Coordinator position is currently paused. Part-Time Dinner Engagement Coordinators supervise operational aspects of the nightly dinner program, including floor supervision and support of dinner team volunteers. The leadership shown in this vital position ensures safety and consistency in Teen Feed’s dinner program. Successful candidates are practical, empathetic leaders who can execute operationally; this “get-stuff-done” person will be ready to handle tough situations with courage, consistency, and compassion while identifying and solving persistent challenges. Additionally, a strong candidate would be someone who can (with the proper training) work independently, take charge of a team, and learn the basics of data entry in our Salesforce database. This role embraces gender diversity, equity, inclusion, and values youth and staff input. A strong preference is given to racially diverse and bilingual candidates reflecting the demographic make-up of our youth as well as those seeking an understanding of poverty and oppression. Mission:

Teen Feed works with the community to offer support to meet basic needs, build strong relationships, and ally with houseless youth as they meet their future off the streets. On a daily basis, Teen Feed responds to the basic needs of houseless youth in Seattle’s University District through three integrated programs: Teen Feed Dinner Program, the Street Talk Outreach Program (STOP), and Service Links for Youth (SLY). We are a street-level and low barrier team offering navigation toward youth services for vulnerable youth ages 13-25.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least one year of previous work, volunteer, or other relevant experience with houseless youth and young adults
  • Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn about the social service systems and clinical issues pertinent to houseless youth
  • Ability to perform all services in a culturally respectful manner, honoring homeless individuals in agreement with Teen Feed Core Values
  • Ability to perform physical duties such as lifting, bending, standing for periods of time, and accessing stairs
  • Preferences: service industry experience, bilingual

Requirements:

  • Participation at monthly Coordinator meetings and ongoing trainings
  • Flexible schedule
  • Consistent, punctual, clear communicator

This is a flexible part-time role averaging 3 hours per shift (evenings), on-call as needed. 

Pay begins at $25/hour
